    TEAM MEETING Empty TEAM MEETING

Post  ali cree Thu Jun 25, 2009 4:26 am

    Guys,

I know we haven't all had a chance to sit down recently and socialise and talk dek but would it be possible to arrange a get together to go through a few things in the next couple of weeks? Maybe a good chance to sort a lot of things out!

I know ive not been playing long but after meeting with the president of the isbhf (international street and ball hockey federation) I have a lot of positive things to pass on to you and a personal thanks to yourselves for establishing and promoting the sport in the uk.

Some issues i think are important to discuss:

    POTENTIAL BALL HOCKEY VENUE
    SEPTEMBER TOURNAMENT
    TOURNAMENT TEAMS
    WEEKLY TRAINING PROPOSAL
    ADDITIONAL TRAINING
    EUROPEAN BALL HOCKEY COMPETITION
    PROMOTION OF THE SPORT
    RECRUITMENT DRIVE

So what day would be best for most of us all? SUNDAY 5TH JULY AFTER TRAINING?

I might be a bit hungover and not taking part in the game on that Sunday, but would head along for a meeting.

Coolness. I can't play of course, but I'll turn up for a drink and a chat, not least to hear about Ali's international adventures!

Also, Ali, why don't you do an article for the Vipers website about your jaunt? Particularly with yourself and the Ferret involved, it might stir up some interest in the sport both in our fanbase, but possibly with other hockey fans from around the UK.

Guys can we meet at the globe, newcastle after training. If we can meet at the globe for a pint and some polish grub at approx 12 that should allow for showers or freshining up after practice.

Can we get an appropriate roll call.

Can we review the rules for getting your name down for a game, as the rules as previously understood are rapidly going down the shitter!

By all means change them if you want, but let's stick to whatever is agreed to give everyone a fair chance to post and therefore play.

    Original rules (IIRC)

    Thread opens 0900 Monday.
    Post your name only.
Post only if you are actually turning up (looking at you Dean Holland / Joe The Hitman / Ross Duncan.
No mass posting of names (Mr Cree). Lynchio, when previously posting proxies for people, would wait til something like Wednesday to add the names, rather than flood it in his first post/
Failing to show puts you bottom of the list to play the next week.
Thread closes at 12 players + 2 netminders to allow 4 on 4 with a maximum of 2 subs, no more due to value for money issues raised previously, with people refusing to pay to watch for most of the game.

In the interests of people previously refused a game, I think it's only right and proper that the rules are applied as written or formally ammended. Leaving the thread open sounds like you are allowing for players who have reserved spots to not bother their arses on the day.

And also, I'd vote for ANYWHERE but the Globe.

The only reason the Globe was suggested was that it is always very quiet so however many of us turn up, we'll easily get around the same table. The Quayside Bar was busy for Sunday dinners a couple of weeks ago when I was there and there's no way we'd get 10+ around a table (unless the weather's good and we get lucky outside). That said, I don't really care where it is. I'm just going for a pint Very Happy

It looks to me like Ali is actively trying to promote the sport and increase the playing membership, i think if you keep to the 12+2 rule then that growth may be stifled, i agree that there would need to be some form of ruling regarding player numbers but i see nothing wrong with 14/16 +2 players! you could then perhaps have dedicated roles within the game ie Defense/Attack, and line changes could/would be based on that.

i don't think you would lose much playing time to be honest.

As I say, I don't give a monkeys what the rule is, just set one and stick to it. I recall Zomboolio regularly protesting about that, though I realise he doesn't play much now. How big do you reasonably expect it to get?

im sure all these things can be discussed at the meeting as this is where we have to decide if were deking for fun or for development.

I honestly didn't realize a few of the rules stated in your post Kingy and I apologies for disrupting things.

I have been trying to get the uni players involved for two reasons over the past few weeks. Firstly to make a game even go ahead due to lack of numbers and secondly to build interest for both universities to establish teams allowing us to have an opposition in the north east to play from time to time.

I can advise all players to register themselves from now on to stop any untoward feeling.

Well does anyone want to suggest a venue that we'll get a big group around a table? I really don't care where it is as long as I can get a pint.
